Hi, I'm Jason and I'm the youth pastor at Calvary. My prayer and constant efforts are to see young people grow in their relationship with God and feel equipped to take a stand in our culture for Godly principles. I love my job!
Basic info: I'm a native Idahoan--I grew up here and went to Boise High School. I'm married to my beautiful wife, Amanda (I love you!). We have a five-year-old daughter, and we just welcomed our son to the family this August.
Day Job: In addition to being the youth pastor here, I teach sophomore English at Skyview High School in Nampa. I believe that yount people are the most amazing people group that we have in our society. I can't think of two better jobs to have!
Interests and Favorites TV shows: Cash Cab, Man V. Wild, Dirty Jobs (mostly because I think I have done almost every dirty job (youth ministry is not one of those!))
Movies: I know it makes me a dork to say this, but I like the Hallmark movie, The Ultimate Gift. I also like the movie Extreme Days.
Books: I love to read! My favorite author is Ravi Zacharias; however, I like to read anything that deals with philosophy and apologetics. I am also something of a current events nerd (Mom always said that nerds run the world). Oher authors are Richard Foster, C.S. Lewis, and of course, God (i.e., the Bible).
What's on my iPod: If I had an iPod (my 32G iPod Touch got stolen from my car in Phoenix, AZ), it would have, first and foremost, the David Crowder Band. Also, many other artists: I like everything from classical music to rock 'n roll, I even like some country. Oh, and don't forget Hannah Montana (for my daughter, of course ;)
Hobbies: I love anything that has competition involved. Just this year, I have started to take up hockey (skating is hard). I also love golf (there we go with the nerd thing again), skiing, basketball, and spending time with my family.
Dislikes: Dislikable things
Odd fact about myself: The only odd fact that I can think of about myself is that I am odd.
Favorite Bible verse: If I had to pick one or two, they would be: Jesus came so that we can have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10; and, Set apart Christ as Lord, and always be prepared to give a reason for the hope that you have within you, but do it with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15
